RIXML v3.0 Working Group Resources

NEW! RIXML v3.0 public comment period has begun!

The public comment period for the RIXML Standards Suite 3.0 release begins on September 18, 2026. It is expected to conclude on October 30, 2026, with the production release to occur shortly after, once any changes identified during the comment period have been made.

We encourage all RIXML member firms, and any other interested parties, to review the release candidate below. We expect to continue enhancing the Data Dictionary during the comment period; when an update is available, we will indicate changes from the prior version on this page. We do not expect to update the XSD schema files during the comment period unless a critical error is reported.

IMPORTANT: This document and the related RIXML Standards Suite schema files are drafts and should not be used as the basis for development. The final production release will be issued after updates identified during the public comment period have been incorporated. This document should be used for becoming familiar with the 3.0 standards, identifying issues, and for planning purposes only.

The comment period release packet includes the following:

Data Dictionary - human-readable list of all tags in the Research Standard, along with definitions and best practices. It also includes the full list of values in all of the enumeration lists used in the Research Standard

Overview:

Since the last version of the RIXML Standards Suite was released in 2017, there have been changes in many aspects of the investment research delivery lifecycle, including new formats, topics, regulations, and delivery mechanisms.

We have also received change requests, both big and small, from member firms to address tagging needs not provided for in our current standards. The upcoming release of the RIXML Standards Suite has been developed to address the needs our member firms have identified, with an overall goal of improving findability.

Enumeration List Review Documents:

We encourage all member firms to review the enumeration lists below to ensure that the terms your firm needs are available. Each document refers to the relevant sections of the Draft Data Dictionary; it is important to review the indicated sections, as they provide the background and context needed to understand where and how each each enumeration list is used.
